Reference: Update to CD Changer (CDC) Cable deleted - certain 9-5 models

As indicated in the Reference posted 03/30/00, beginning with 9-5 VIN Serial No. Y3049931, the cable for the CD changer (CDC) was deleted. As of VIN Serial No. Y3065548, the pre-installed cable has been re-introduced. However, the cable design has been changed and now requires an adapter cable to attach to the CDC. As a result of the change in the length of the harness, the connectors do not extend as far rearward; they are taped back onto the harness near the top of the rear wheel well. Because of this new mounting position, it may be necessary to remove 9-5 sedan's inner fender upholstery to gain access to the connector.

All 9-5 models use the same CD Changer, P/N 50 42 585. However, depending upon which model (sedan or wagon) and VIN Serial Number, parts required for the installation differ. Please see the chart below for correct application.

Use the following information to submit a warranty claim for fitting the cable (P/N 02 78 739) between the A-pillar and trunk ONLY. This cable is applicable only on cars between VIN Serial Nos. Y3049932 and Y3065547. Warranty claims for cars after Y3065547 will not be accepted.
